Jonathan A. Sanders is principal attorney and founder of Business & Real Estate Law Firm PC. Jonathan is a business attorney and real estate attorney practicing in Sacramento, California. He received his training at some of Sacramento’s leading law firms. Jonathan has represented businesses in major negotiations with national companies, sponsors of investment opportunities seeking to make private securities offerings, commercial property owners in sales, commercial property buyers in purchases, individuals and businesses in partnership negotiations and formations.
Jonathan also has previous experience as a corporate executive in one of the country’s largest real estate brokerages, where he served as general counsel. This experience situates Jonathan uniquely among lawyers, because he has the benefit of real business experience that he deploys in his legal advice and counsel. In this regard, Jonathan is also a specialist in the niche fields of real estate agent law and real estate broker law. Jonathan advises new brokers in their startup operations, from forming the brokerage company and advising on compliance with the California Department of Real Estate regulations, to assisting agents and brokers of all experience levels and markets successfully meet their fiduciary and professional duties to clients in complex, unique, and high-stakes transactions. Jonathan also devotes a portion of the practice to representing real estate agents and real estate brokers in California Department of Real Estate Investigations and defends them against administrative accusations when their licenses are on the line.
Jonathan is also a litigator in California and federal courts. Over the course of his career, he successfully represented plaintiffs and defendants across a broad spectrum of property law and business law matters. Jonathan obtained an early dismissal of a real estate agent from a lawsuit alleging the real estate agent’s negligence, a seven-figure arbitration judgment on behalf of a regional business and, without filing a lawsuit, a six-figure mediated settlement on behalf of residential real estate purchasers advancing a non-disclosure claim against the sellers.
Precise and complex legal advocacy is a mainstay of Jonathan’s approach. In this regard, he has successfully represented litigants on appeal and has two published decisions by the California Court of Appeal in real estate law: Ponce v. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. (2018) 21 Cal.App.5th 253 and Rossetta v. CitiMortgage, Inc. (2017) 18 Cal.App.5th 628.
Jonathan is originally from Detroit, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate degree and the University of Oregon School of Law for his law degree. Jonathan lives in Elk Grove with his wife, an educator, and their young children.
